Michigan House approves GOP road funding plan

Tags: michigan, news

The State House passed a Republican-backed $3.2 billion road funding plan, which reallocates money from corporate welfare programs and increases the state’s gas tax. The package, a priority for Speaker Matt Hall since Republicans took control last January, includes over $1 billion for road repairs by converting the sales tax at the pump into a gas tax. Additionally, it allocates $2.2 billion from corporate income tax revenues, with over $1 billion saved by terminating certain corporate welfare programs.
