Ex-Michigan Coach Matthew Weiss charged in massive hacking case

Matthew Weiss, a former assistant coach for the Michigan Wolverines, appeared in federal court charged with hacking the personal and intimate data of over 3,300 student athletes from more than 100 colleges between 2015 and 2023. The 42-year-old faces 24 charges, including unauthorized computer access and aggravated identity theft. A civil suit has also been filed against Weiss, the University of Michigan, and Keffer Development Services, claiming negligence in monitoring Weiss and protecting student data.
