Another arctic blast hitting Metro Detroit with snow, wind, wind chills

4Warn Weather Alert issued for Friday as accumulating snow could reduce visibility and create slick roads

DETROIT – It’s another chilly start with wind chills near zero. Scattered light snow showers arrive this afternoon through Friday morning with total accumulations of 1-2″ with isolated higher amounts. Highs will be back in the 20s today before rising slightly above freezing tomorrow.

Steady snowfall tapers off late Friday morning. However, a few snow squalls are possible Friday afternoon as wind gusts reach 30-40 MPH. Temperatures will plummet Friday evening/night, bottoming out around zero Saturday morning. Wind chills will be around 15 degrees below zero or lower Saturday morning before a warming trend into next week.

We will warm into the 30s by the middle of next week with long-range temperatures outlooks trending well above average through mid-February.
