“Right in the Eye” is a live movie-concert experience that showcases the silent films of Georges Méliès, a pioneer in cinema and special effects. The films are accompanied by a captivating, multi-layered live score performed by three musicians who use a diverse range of instruments, including the piano, guitar, percussion, theremin, aquaphone, and even plastic take-out lids. The music beautifully captures the technical brilliance and whimsical creativity that define Méliès’ cinematic legacy.

Kraftwerk

Kraftwerk will be in town. The German electronic pioneers are taking their critically acclaimed 3-D tour back on the road to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of their iconic album ‘Autobahn’ and their first world tour which took place in 1975. A Kraftwerk show requires suspension of disbelief; it’s hard to guess that the four-piece are creating the music live on stage as you watch, as they use minimal movements on their keyboards. Not one to miss if you’re an electronic enthusiast!
Tommy Richman- The Coyote Tour

If you’re active on social media, you may have heard of Tommy Richman. He is an American singer and rapper who gained fame for his 2024 single, “Million Dollar Baby.” A portion of the song went viral on TikTok, eventually reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Tommy will be performing at Saint Andrews Hall as part of his Coyote Tour this Friday.

There is a new Satori Circus film premiering at the Planet Ant Hall this weekend, and it’s for a great cause. Produced by Manxman Films, the same team behind “Being Satori Circus: A Performance Documentary in Five Acts,” the film titled “These Are My Friends” features performances by the Theatre Bizarre Orchestra, Pinch and Squeal of Whiz Bang Theatre, Josie Pace, Lushes LaMoan & Scotty D, Konrad Lee - Lounge Singer Extraordinaire, and of course, Detroit’s legendary Satori Circus! The evening serves as a fundraiser for Cinema Detroit.
Swan Lake

Swan Lake has captivated audiences for over 100 years. This stunning story and magnificent production is based on an ancient German legend that tells the tale of Princess Odette, who is transformed into a swan due to the curse of the sorcerer Rothbart. The enchanting story is accompanied by the music of the renowned composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. See it this Sunday at Music Hall Center.

A new mixed media art show is opening this weekend at the Janice Charach Gallery located right inside the J Detroit. The exhibit, titled Chroma: Color with Intent, will showcase over 50 Michigan artists who use color in the most unique and intentional ways. A special reception will be hosted Sunday from 1pm-4pm.
