Imaginary friends and Amy Winehouse are the subjects of two new movies out this weekend. Movie reviewer Greg Russell appeared on “Live In The D” to let everyone know what they can expect when they go to the movies this weekend.
First, he talked about the movie “IF” which is written and directed by John Krasinski. The movie is about imaginary friends (IFs) who no longer have kids to play with. It’s up to a young girl who can see all imaginary friends to try and reconnect them with their kids. With help from Cal, played by Ryan Reynolds, she embarks on a journey that borders the line of real and imaginary. “I’ve heard that it’s for adults and kids, so it’s not just a kid’s movie. Adults actually left the theater crying,” said Russell.
Russell also spoke about the new movie “Back To Black” which is a biopic about the life of Amy Winehouse. It follows her rise to stardom and the ups and downs she had to live with along the way. The movie stars Marisa Abela as Winehouse and it is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. Russell had a chance to talk to both of them about bringing Winehouse’s story to life.
