There is a twist in the case of a man who was hit and killed while crossing I-94 in Allen Park 10 years ago.
A father on Detroit’s east side contacted Local 4 to tell the story about his son.
It was almost exactly 10 years ago that Torian Brinson was running on I-94 when he was hit and killed.
The drivers involved stopped as the Michigan State Police investigated. But the reason Brinson was running has haunted this dad for a decade.
Rudy Brinson said Torian was running from his own vehicle in a part of Metro Detroit he had never been in before.
He believes he was running from someone and wants to shine more light on that right now.
“He was my son,” said Rudy. “He had a family that loved him, we want to know what happened, and somebody knows something. That is why I wanted to talk with you.”
Rudy contacted Local 4, wanting someone to listen to him as the anniversary, Nov. 9, 2014, approaches.
Brinson’s 27–year–old son was running across I-94 near Oakwood Boulevard in Allen Park.
Other drivers did not see Torian, hitting him and killing him. Those drivers stopped as MSP investigated. The drivers were not at fault.
Initial reports were that Torian had a flat and ran across I-94, and was hit running back to his car.
Rudy dug into reports that indicated his son was driving at a high rate of speed on three rims in an area he never went to.
“The police report was saying he was riding miles and miles on a bad rim, going fast as he could,” said Rudy. “Something was wrong. It has been 10 years, and we have not heard a thing.”
For 10 years, Rudy has been piecing together the messages he received from his son that day while he was with friends, which indicated that something was wrong.
