MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Three people were taken to the hospital after an Uber driver speeding on the shoulder and grass along a major Macomb County road caused a three-car crash.
The crash happened at 2:38 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, on Hall Road near Heydenreich Road in Macomb Township, police said.
A white Chevrolet Bolt was speeding west on the right-hand shoulder and grass along Hall Road, according to officials.
A teal Ford Taurus was turning right into a business complex near the intersection of Hall and Haydenreich roads when the Bolt crashed into its passenger side, police said.
The impact of that collision caused the Taurus to crash into a white SUV.
The 55-year-old Macomb Township man driving the Taurus was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The 37-year-old Shelby Township man driving the Bolt and his Uber passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
The driver of the white SUV was not injured.
Police don’t believe alcohol was a factor.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is investigation the crash.
