ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A vigil was held Saturday evening for the missing Warren mother Ashley Elkins.
The 30-year-old mother of two was last seen Jan. 2, 2025, and is presumed dead by police.
“Right now, with everybody here it shows everybody cares,” Elkins’ mom, Monika Elkins, said during the vigil. “When I thought nobody cared at all, I see that everybody cares now.”
Elkins’ ex-boyfriend, Deandre Booker, is a suspect in her disappearance and has been charged with lying to police.
The vigil was held outside of Booker’s Roseville apartment complex, which is the last place Elkins’ phone pinged.
Despite an extensive search at a landfill in Lennox Township, Elkins’ body has not been found.
“If (Dean) Drae is watching, I just want to tell him please let us know where she is,” Monika Elkins said.
Family and friends at the vigil echoed this sentiment.
“We want to be able to bury her like a human deserves to be laid to rest,” Elkins’ cousin Taylor Redmond said. “It’s just hard for me to come to terms with it (and) I know it’s hard for her youngest son to come to terms with it because we are constantly asking ourselves where is she?”
The investigation into Elkins disappearance is ongoing and more charges could be forthcoming.
