MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – The family of missing Macomb County mother Ashley Elkins says murder charges have been filed against her ex-boyfriend.
“Today, they have officially charged Deandre Booker with first-degree murder, which is great news for the family,” Elkins’ uncle and family spokesperson Maurice Morton said.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office announced that an arraignment would take place in the case on Friday morning but did not divulge who would be charged and with what.

The ex-boyfriend, Deandre Booker, is already behind bars after being charged with lying to police earlier this month.
The new charges come as police confirm DNA evidence taken from Booker’s apartment and dumpster came back as a positive match for the missing mother of two.
“Obviously, the prosecutor feels very confident in the evidence that was collected, enough so that they charged first-degree murder,” Morton said.
Despite the murder charges filed, Elkins’ body has not been found.
“They have been unable to locate Ashley’s body or remains, so at least this is a first step towards getting justice,” Morton said.
Elkins’ family plans to attend the arraignment Friday (Jan. 31) morning.
Afterward, the prosecutor will hold a press conference to discuss the case.
