OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – One person was shot and the suspect is dead after a standoff in Oakland County, officials said.

At 6:12 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media and asked residents to avoid the area of Farmington Road between 9 Mile and Grand River due to a “SWAT situation” with a barricaded gunman who had shot another person.

The sheriff’s office released an update at 8:05 p.m. and said the standoff had ended.

A woman was shot, and when authorities entered, they found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The investigation is ongoing. Farmington Hills police will release further information, according to the sheriff’s office.
