DETROIT – Al Allen, a former reporter for Fox 2, has died. He was 79.
The longtime reporter died at a hospital in Metro Detroit on Tuesday night, according to FOX 2.
Allen started his career in 1984 and spent almost 30 years reporting, covering everything from crime and corruption to highlighting community members across Metro Detroit.
He received several awards throughout his career including for his reporting on Jimmy Hoffa’s death and his reports on the problems faced by Detroit’s African American community. He was also inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame.
Allen retired from FOX 2 in 2012.
