As most of the region saw some sort of winter weather overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning, another round of snow and possible rain mix is expected to hit Metro Detroit this weekend.
We will watch a strong low pressure system work north and east into the Ohio Valley, and this system will have plenty of moisture to work with. The latest data suggests that this system may be entirely snow for Southeastern Michigan contrary to a wintry mix we’ve been looking at the past few days.
In either event, we are looking at the potential of either some snow and or ice accumulation looking ahead to the start of the weekend on Saturday. Temperatures will be critical as to what precipitation type we do see.
Once that system moves off to the east Saturday night early on Sunday morning, we will keep the chance of some lake effect snow showers into the forecast for the end of the weekend on Sunday.
