MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A man was arrested in Macomb County on Monday after police said he beat a puppy numerous times, causing multiple fractures.

A witness told deputies from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office that on Feb. 3, 2025, just before 11:30 a.m., he saw a man hitting a puppy numerous times with a “cylindrical item” inside a camper van at a fast-food restaurant on Hall Road.

When deputies and animal control responded to the scene, they asked Corbin Miller, a 25-year-old from Manistee, to roll down his window, step out of the camper van and let them see the puppy. Miller reportedly refused.

Deputies eventually were able to gain entry to the camper van and found Maeby, a 3-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer mix, with visible injuries to her leg and yelped when she was picked up.

The sheriff’s office said Miller continued to be uncooperative and was taken into custody. He was arraigned Wednesday on charges of animal abuse and resisting a police officer. His bond was set at $100,000.
