MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – Monroe County police have arrested two people involved in a road rage shooting on I-75 with children onboard.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday (Feb. 9) at 1:58 p.m., originated in Erie Township.

Officials said the occupants of a silver Chevrolet Tahoe fired a handgun at a white Dodge Ram, which then pursued the Tahoe at high speeds.

Police said they located the Tahoe at the intersection of I-75 and E. Front Street, where it ultimately pulled over at E. Elm Avenue.

Officials said a 63-year-old man, who was the driver, and a 58-year-old woman passenger of the Tahoe were taken into custody.

Two loaded handguns were recovered from the vehicle. The Tahoe and the Dodge Ram contained juvenile passengers, but fortunately, no one was injured.

The Erie Township Police Department responded to conduct the investigation, as the incident began within their jurisdiction.

The woman passenger of the Tahoe admitted to the shooting and was subsequently lodged at the Monroe County Jail.

Charges of assault with intent to murder were being sought against those involved in this incident.
