Woman dead in car, gunman barricades inside home after road rage dispute at Detroit-Dearborn border

Police say woman found shot to death inside car

DETROIT – A woman was shot and killed Friday night when two drivers got into a road rage dispute in the area of the Detroit-Dearborn border, police said.

The investigation began Friday night, Feb. 21, 2025, in the area of Tireman Avenue and Cheyenne Street on Detroit’s west side, where officers found the body of a woman who had been shot to death insider her car.

“We were looking out the windows because we could see the flashing lights,” neighbor Linda Hurley said. “We did see one officer walk down the street with a flashlight like he was looking for something. They were out there for a long time.”

Investigators think the shooting stemmed from a road rage dispute in Dearborn. Both Detroit and Dearborn police are involved in the case.

While Detroit police searched for the person who pulled the trigger, their investigation took them to the area of Plymouth Road and Whitcomb. They said the suspected shooter had barricaded himself inside a home.

Local 4 cameras captured police officers eventually walking into the home. The details of how that situation ended have not yet been revealed.

It’s not yet clear what led police from the woman’s body to the scene of the barricaded gunman.

“I think it’s atrocious,” Hurley said. “I don’t know what goes through people’s minds. It’s horrible.”

No additional information about the woman or the suspected shooter has been revealed.
