Suspects buy snacks shortly after torching auto business on Detroit’s west side

Police are looking for two people believed to be involved in a Dec. 8, 2024, arson on McNichols Road. (WDIV)

DETROIT – Police in Detroit are asking for the public’s help identifying two people involved in an arson.

It happened shortly after 1:30 a.m., Dec. 8, 2024, at an automotive business on West McNichols Road, near Meyers Road.

Police said the suspected arsonists were caught on camera entering a gas station and buying snacks after the fire. They were seen entering and exiting the gas station in a red Dodge Caravan.

Anyone who recognizes the two or has any information is asked to contact the Detroit Fire Investigation Division at 313-596-2940, the arson tip line at 313-628-2900 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

Tips can be made anonymously.
