Williams was one of the few surviving World War II combat-trained pilots in Metro Detroit

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – The Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum joined friends and family in Dearborn Heights to celebrate Cleveland Williams’ 100th birthday.

Williams was one of the few surviving World War II combat-trained pilots in Metro Detroit for a special celebration at American House in Dearborn Heights.

The celebration for Williams brought other pilots, friends, family, and supporters from across the region to eat, have fellowship, sing happy birthday, and present gifts.

You can listen to Williams tell the harrowing tale of surviving a crash landing during the war.

The once-in-a-lifetime event featured stories celebrating life in and around Detroit over the last century, started at 2:30 p.m. at the American House Senior Community, 26600 Ann Arbor Trail, Dearborn Heights, on Wednesday (March 5).
