OXFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The daughter of a woman who was killed on Christmas Eve when they stopped to help someone on the side of the road in Oxford Township shared what she remembered about the shooting in court.

Malik Letroy Webb, of Flint, is in court Friday, March 28, 2025, on accusations that he killed Dr. Barbara Wolf, 71, and injured her daughter and another man who stopped to help.

Police said Webb was on his way home from a Christmas party on Dec. 24, 2024, when he got into a crash on Ray Road between Lapeer and North Oxford roads.

Webb’s car was in a ditch when Wolf pulled up, according to authorities.

Wolf’s daughter testified Friday during his trial. She said she and her mom had just left Meijer. Her mom was driving and she was in the passenger seat.

They were on Ray Road and approaching the intersection at North Oxford Road when they noticed a sedan was in the ditch, she said. It was pointed off the road in the ditch toward some trees, so the back of the vehicle was facing the road on a slight angle.

“We stopped because we thought that they needed help,” she said. “It’s a place that people go off the road a lot. It’s somewhere that we’ve stopped many, many times for people.

“My mom rolled down her window and we yelled to see if everybody was OK. Then, I saw a little bit of movement, and then there was somebody in our window.”

She said the movement came from the driver’s side of their car, and she realized a person was in the window.

“They were trying to get into the car through the (driver’s side) window,” she said. “It seemed like they were reaching ... into the window kind of toward the door handle, but the door handle is super far down so it’s nowhere near the top, and then just trying to pull on the door.”

She said the hand was reaching over the top of the open window.

“We were freaked out about that happening, so my mom started to drive away, and that’s when the person in the window started to shoot into the car,” she said. “I know my mom got shot. I’m not sure when. I got shot -- I don’t know how many times -- but in my side.”

“What injuries did you have?” the prosecutor asked.

“I was shot in the side and most of the bullets went in -- my understanding is that they went into my intestines, or that part of my abdomen,” she said. “Then, I was shot twice in the left arm. One went through my arm and I don’t know where it went from there. The other one went through the ball of my shoulder into the fascia and is now lodged between my scapula and my ribs.”

“You indicated that you have a problem with vision. Why is that?” the prosecutor asked.

“What I was told is that a piece of my mom’s skull hit the side of my face and went into my nose, so I have broken orbital bones in the left side of my face,” she said.

Webb is facing several charges, including murder, attempted murder, and carjacking.
