Michigan man facing new charges in connection with stalking AG Nessel, her wife

Christopher Dean Baldwin gets aggravated stalking charges

Christopher Dean Baldwin (Plymouth Police Department)

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A man is facing new charges in connection with stalking Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and her wife.

Christopher Dean Baldwin, 42, is accused of stalking Nessel and her wife, Plymouth City Commissioner Alanna Maguire, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

He was initially charged with two counts of misdemeanor stalking on March 7, 2024, after police were called to Nessel and Maguire’s Plymouth home at around 8:30 a.m. on March 5, 2024, after he allegedly rang the doorbell and then sat on the porch.

When officers arrived, they arrested Baldwin. He also allegedly went to a Plymouth city commission meeting the day prior, where Maguire was in attendance.

On March 20, 2025, the case was dismissed because Baldwin was found incompetent to stand trial.

“Because this is a 12-month offense, MCL 330.2044, requires that if Baldwin remains incompetent for 4 months (1/3 of the maximum), the case must be dismissed until, and if, he regains competency,” according to the prosecutor’s office. Baldwin is under the jurisdiction of the Wayne County Third Circuit Court Probate Division and is housed in a secure facility.

Now, Baldwin is facing additional stalking charges.

On Feb. 27, 2025, he allegedly used Nessel and Maguire’s address and Nessel’s phone number without permission to get documents from the 12th District Court in Jackson County.

Due to this, Baldwin has been charged with two counts of aggravated stalking.

He was arraigned on March 27, 2025, and given a $200,000 cash/surety bond. If released, he must wear a GPS tether.

Baldwin is expected to appear in court for these charges on April 4 for a probable cause conference, and on April 11 for a preliminary examination.

“We are alleging once again that the defendant in this case continues to harass our State Attorney General and her wife,” said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. “This is criminal behavior and cannot be tolerated.”
