The man accused of going on a senseless shooting rampage on Christmas Eve in Oxford is in court on Friday for a preliminary examination.
Malik Letroy Webb, from Flint, allegedly killed one woman and hurt two others who authorities said were all trying to help him.
While Webb was on his way home to Flint from a Christmas party on Dec. 24, 2024, he got into a crash on Ray Road between Lapeer and N. Oxford roads. His car went into a ditch.
According to prosecutors, 71-year-old Dr. Barbara Wolf pulled over to try to help him. Instead, Wedd allegedly fired 30 rounds, killing Wolf. Her daughter and another man who stopped to help were also injured.
Webb then allegedly tried to carjack a 39-year-old woman while holding a gun to her head.
The Flint man faces multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder and carjacking.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff, Webb is a repeat offender who was let out of jail early, right before the shooting.
Webb appeared in court in handcuffs on March 28 for his preliminary examination hearing.
Amended charges
Webb was arraigned again before his preliminary examination on Friday because the prosecutor’s office amended some of his charges, meaning they made some changes to the charges he faces.
He faces 22 charges in connection with the shooting, including open murder. He was initially charged with felonious assault, but the prosecutor’s office changed that charge to assault with intent to murder. His carrying a concealed weapon charge was dismissed, but he was charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
Prosecutors also said Webb had a .11 DUI during the incident.
Preliminary examination
Witnesses testify, saying Webb pulled a gun at them
Two witnesses testified in the preliminary examination that they encountered a person in a blue sedan at a carpool lot off M-24 and Oakwood Road trying to drive into two poles on the ground within the lot.
The two testified when they asked if the driver was okay, the person pulled out a gun and pointed it at them.
The two testifying were exchanging presents and dropping off children for Christmas Eve.
One testified that the driver yelled at them, saying, “I just got into an accident,” when they asked if the driver was okay before driving away.
One of the witnesses then called 911 to report the incident.
They both testified that they couldn’t tell who was in the car, but they saw a gun pointing at them.
Wolf’s daughter testifies
Wolf’s daughter testified that she and her mother were at Meijer in Oxford to pick up last-minute Christmas gifts and some milk.
While heading back home, they saw a blue car in a ditch on the side of Ray Road. Her mother, who was driving, pulled over to the side and asked if the driver is okay.
The daughter testified she saw someone moving and tried to reach for something inside the car.
She said the person then tried to get into her mom’s car. Her mother then tried to drive away.
Wolf’s daughter said she was then shot multiple times all over her body, and testified her mother was also shot but wasn’t sure when.
She testified she was wearing glasses at the time of the shooting but broke off when a piece of her mother’s skull flew at her face when her mother was shot. In court on Friday, she was unable to see in the courtroom because she no longer has glasses and had damage to her face.

Wolf’s daughter said she had to be in rehabilitation for months because she was shot on her shoulder and stomach area.
Woman Webb allegedly carjacked testifies
A woman testified Webb tried to steal her car and put a gun to her head the night of the shooting.
She said she was returning home from shopping at Meijer. She was driving on Ray Road and saw two cars pulled over to the side. She saw a blue car with its reverse lights on.
She also pulled over because she thought maybe someone needed some help.
She got out of her car and looked around, she said that’s when a man approached her with a gun to her head.
The man then went into her car and tried to put it in gear but was unsuccessful.
When Webb got out of the car, the woman testified another truck pulled over. She told the driver of that truck that Webb had a gun.
She testified she heard gunshots, which led to her running away. She ran in front of a different pickup truck, where the driver told her to get inside.
She said the driver was someone she knew and happened to be driving in the area. The driver of this pickup truck drove away from the scene and parked at Oxford High School to wait for police to arrive.
She was able to identify Webb during the hearing.
Driver of truck who helped woman carjacked testifies
A witness testified she was driving to her apartment in Lake Orion from her parent’s house in Oxford the night of the shooting.
She said she was driving on Ray Road when she saw some cars pulled over to the side and one car kept trying to reverse.
She thought someone needed help, so she got a little closer. She testified that when she got closer, a woman ran towards her car and heard her say a man had a gun.
She said she heard gunshots and let the woman in her vehicle. She testified that she knew the woman but didn’t know until she got into her truck.
She drove away from the scene and parked at Oxford High School to wait for first responders to arrive. She testified she saw a white pickup truck driving down the road while a man was shooting.
The defense questioned her memory of how many shots she heard because the statement she wrote to the sheriff’s office said she heard three to four shots, but she said she heard four to five shots during her testimony in the preliminary examination. She said she wasn’t sure how much, just many shots were fired.
Man shot testifies
A man testified he was on his way to Meijer with his wife the night of the shooting.
He turned onto Ray Road and saw two cars, one in the ditch and the other pulled over. He said he assumed someone was stuck but then thought there was a crash. He told his wife to call 911.
He testified that he saw a woman in the driver’s seat of the red car with a young woman in the passenger seat. While driving near the car, he noticed the young woman was covered in blood.
He said Webb jumped on his truck and asked to call 911 and that people were hurt. The man testified Webb appeared calm at first, but when he said his wife was already calling 911, Webb appeared to get angry.
Then he heard a woman’s voice in the distance yell that Webb had a gun. When the man was grabbing his phone, he looked up and said a gun was pointed at his face.
He remembered telling Webb, “I don’t know why you’re doing this. You don’t need to.”
He testified Webb told him “I don’t know where the f*** I am,” and said he needed a ride home.
The victim offered Webb a ride home, to which Webb told him to start driving.
The victim began driving down the road slowly, with Webb hanging onto the side of his truck.
At the next intersection, Webb said he needed to get inside the truck. The victim offered to drop Webb off at Meijer to get him home. The man testified Webb appeared to calm down.
When Webb started losing some grip on the truck, the victim testified he started speeding up in hopes of shaking him off. Webb was still hanging on, and the victim said he appeared angry.
Webb then allegedly began shooting, striking the victim in the forearm.
The victim testified he heard at least three shots before Webb fell off the truck.
Witness at Christmas party testifies
A man testified that he was at a Christmas Party in Rochester on the day of the shooting.
He said he was sitting next to Webb at the party, drinking alcohol with him.
The witness said that he told people in the room that he may need a ride home, as he wasn’t sober enough to drive him and his son home. Webb reportedly told him he could drive him home and he had “a banger” on him. The witness clarified in the hearing that a banger translates to a gun.
He testified he became uncomfortable and decided not to talk to him anymore. The witness said he got a ride home from a friend passing through Rochester.
He also testified Webb had been drinking a lot at the party, “He had more than me.”
During the preliminary examination, the witness and defense attorney appeared to begin arguing with each other regarding his decision to drink in front of his son. The judge intervened and agreed with prosecutors that the defense attorney’s line of questioning was argumentative.
This is a developing story.
