Berkley man accused of demanding sex from teen in exchange for vape products faces more charges

Darren Bradford charged with criminal sexual conduct

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Berkley man has been charged with additional counts of criminal sexual conduct in Oakland County after being accused of coercing a teen into sex in exchange for vape products, officials said.

Darren Bradford, 24, has been charged with six more counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

This comes after Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald charged Bradford with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct last week after he allegedly demanded sex from a 15-year-old in exchange for selling her vape products.

He’s also facing similar charges in Wayne County. He was arrested and charged with the sexual assault of a Grosse Pointe Park girl in February.

The prosecutor says some of the victims in the new cases are believed to have connected with Bradford on Snapchat. As in the previous case, the 24-year-old allegedly used this app to provide teenagers with vapes, marijuana and alcohol.

“This defendant appears to be a serial predator who exploited teenagers too young to consent,” McDonald said. “I applaud the victims for coming forward. It’s never easy to do, but thanks to them this defendant won’t get a chance to abuse the next potential victim.”
