“We had officers make the scene. Just shortly after that Shotspotter run came out, we were able to locate three victims in different areas. One was fatally wounded, and another one was seriously wounded. But what we’re trying to do right now is we think we have everything contained.”

Police said the shooting was an unfortunate incident where somebody pulled up and had a verbal argument, which escalated to a physical altercation.

“One of our suspects went to his vehicle, got a weapon, started firing, and somebody who had nothing to do with the incident, as far as we know, was fatally wounded. Another person was non-fatally wounded, and our suspect was also shot by return fire that came from the house that he was shooting at.”

Officials said the scene was connected to another incident on Hoover Street.

“Our victims were in different levels of self-transport or someone transporting them. We had one that was actually stopped by Warren PD, and they had medics transport that victim, who is our suspect, to St. John’s Hospital, and the other victims were either transported by medics part of the way or they were part of the way transported by private citizens and then transported by medics.”

Police said the innocent bystander was bringing groceries into their home when they were shot and killed.

Officials called the incident senseless as it started with a verbal argument, which then escalated to a physical altercation in which somebody had to get a gun.

Williams said the suspect went to his vehicle and, retrieved a long gun and started opening fire.

Then, at some point, a resident at the house that the man was shooting at retrieved a weapon and started firing back at the man.

Police said the situation is contained, and they believe that everybody responsible is either arrested or at the hospital or a combination of both. However, they still sort out the information as they need to finish talking to people.

Officials said they do not know what started the altercation, but there is no threat to the public.

Police said all of the victims were in their 20s.
