Nearly 30 people were injured, and one person was killed following four separate fires and explosions in Metro Detroit this week.

Two fires and two explosions resulted in the death of one woman and 28 injuries. An apartment building exploded in Detroit, a house caught fire in Farmington Hills, a house exploded in Southgate and an apartment complex caught fire.

Here’s a breakdown of the fires and explosions reported this week:

Apartment explosion in Detroit’s west side: 13 injured

At least 13 people were injured after an explosion at an apartment building on Detroit’s west side.

Firefighters responded to the explosion at around 4 a.m. on March 31 on Littlefield just south of Schoolcraft.

Officials determined the cause of the explosion was from a gas leak.

13 people, including six children, were injured in the explosion.

Fire department officials said one man had severe burns on 90% of his body, a woman had burns on 20% to 40% of her body, and a 3-year-old child had burns on 15% of their body.

House fire in Farmington Hills: 12 injured

12 people, including police officers, were taken to a hospital after a fire at a home in Farmington Hills.

Farmington Hills police officers just before firefighters to a home near 10 Mile and Middlebelt on April 1 at around 5 a.m. and learned people were trapped inside the home engulfed in flames.

Four officers rushed into the home and rescued eight people from the home.

The people rescued were between the ages of 5 months old and 32 years old. Some were found unconscious.

As for the family’s condition, three remain in critical condition, while three others are stable, and two have been discharged from the hospital.

Three officers are on ventilators after suffering smoke inhalation. Another officer suffered burns and smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is not known, but authorities reminded residents to regularly check their smoke detectors as they found there were no working ones in the home.

Home explosion in Southgate: 1 killed, 1 injured

A woman was killed, and a man was severely injured after a house explosion in Southgate.

The explosion happened at a home in the area of Edison and Burns Streets at around 5:45 a.m. on April 3.

A 37-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were in the home at the time of the explosion.

According to authorities, the man was blown out of the house and had extensive burns. The woman was found later trapped under the flaming rubble. She had extensive burns and had trauma to her leg.

Both were taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital. The woman later died from her injuries.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation, but authorities said on Thursday that they are investigating the explosion as a gas-related incident.

Apartment fire in Detroit’s west side: 2 injured

Two people were taken to a hospital, and 12 were displaced after an apartment fire on Detroit’s west side.

The fire happened on April 3 at an apartment complex in the 17300 block of Southfield Freeway.

The Detroit Fire Department said a dozen residents were displaced due to the smoke.

Two adults were taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital. Officials said their injuries were not critical.
