SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Police are working to identify a pedestrian who was killed after being hit by multiple cars on Southfield Freeway late Monday night.
Michigan State Police said a man was walking on the right shoulder into the lanes of traffic on Southfield Freeway just south of the Lodge at around 11:15 p.m. on April 7 when he was hit by a car. The car pulled over right after the crash.

The man was then hit by several other cars on the freeway, and police said those drivers did not stop at the scene.
The man died at the scene, said Michigan State Police.
Authorities believe impairment was not a factor in the crash.
Michigan State Police said the man did not have identification on him and could not identify him after using a mobile fingerprint scanner.
“Troopers are continuing their investigation into the identity of the pedestrian,” said Michigan State Police F/Lt Mike Shaw. “We want to remind members of our community to not walk on the freeway or get out of their cars if your vehicle becomes disabled or you are in a crash. Stay in your vehicle and wear your seatbelt.”
