Wrong-way driver killed in head-on crash on I-94 in St. Clair County

1 killed, 1 critically injured

CASCO, Mich. – A 28-year-old man from Harper Woods died Friday in a wrong-way crash on I-94.

It happened just after 2:30 a.m. Friday, April 18.

According to authorities, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a blue Dodge Charger speeding east in the westbound lanes of I-94. Shortly after, it crashed into a Ford Explorer near Church Road in Casco.

The driver of the Charger, a 28-year-old man from Harper Woods, died at the scene.

The other driver, a 32-year-old man from Flint, was critically injured and was rushed to McLaren Macomb in Mount Clemens.

The westbound lanes of I-94 were closed for several hours after the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
