DETROIT – The start time for the Detroit Tigers' winner-take-all Game 5 against Cleveland on Saturday has been moved up seven hours.
First pitch for the final game of the American League Division Series was originally scheduled for 8:08 p.m. Saturday. But due to the weather forecast in Cleveland, the game has been moved up to 1:08 p.m.
The two teams are heading back to Cleveland after a 5-4 Guardians win at Comerica Park on Thursday night knotted the series at 2-2.
The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to the American League Championship Series, where the No. 1-seeded New York Yankees await.
Soon-to-be Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal will take the mound for the Tigers. He tossed seven shutout innings in Detroit’s Game 2 win at Progressive Field, allowing just three hits and striking out eight.
The Tigers were 10 games out of the final wild card spot and had a 0.2% chance to make the postseason in early August, but then ripped off 31 wins in 42 games.
This is Detroit’s first playoff appearance in 10 years.
