DETROIT – Starting on Opening Day 2025, members of the Detroit Tigers' Home Plate Club will be able to sit in new “cutting-edge seats.”

The new seats feature heating and cooling elements designed to keep fans comfortable at events at any time of the year.
The heating and cooling elements -- designed by Traverse City-based company Promethient -- were developed to work in outdoor locations that are exposed to the elements. Additionally, a specially-made coating on the vinyl seats reduces UV absorption, lowering the material’s temperature on sunny days.
There will be 350 climate-controlled seats installed behind Comerica Park’s home plate. Officials said the seats are more than 20% larger than the standard seats.
Ilitch Sports + Entertainment President and CEO Ryan Gustafson said the new seats are “unprecedented” in sports.
“We’re curating an authentic Detroit atmosphere and integrating innovative elements to give it a unique experience,” Gustafson said. “We will continue sharing the exciting new aspects that will showcase it as one of the best premium clubs in the country.”
The Home Plate Club was announced in June, just before the Tigers' 2024 Postseason. Home Plate Club memberships include VIP parking, private entry and bathrooms, an exclusive space under the stands at Comerica Park between the two clubhouses, in-seat service and more.
