MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. โ One man in Macomb County is using Facebook Live to promote restaurants amid the coronavirus pandemic. And we all have the responsibility to do whatever it takes in times like this to help each other, especially during Christmastime,โ said Tom Sokol. By Day, Sokol is a family man and works in insurance. By night, he hits the streets in Macomb and Shelby townships to highlight small family-owned restaurants struggling with no indoor dining due to Michiganโs COVID-19 restrictions. Metro Detroit small businesses turn to social media to stay afloat
DETROIT โ Many Metro Detroit businesses had to come up with a new way to sell when the first stay-at-home orders were issued in March. Jessica Hall, a teacher turned business owner, runs Urban Crown from the basement of her home. She uses Facebook live streams to help sell items. Like many small businesses, Hall and Gaskins had to reinvent themselves when COVID hit. One Metro Detroit store decided to put safety first and the response from customers has been more than they ever imagined.
Ann Arborโs Wild Swan Theater to have Halloween variety show Wednesday night
ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ Wild Swan Theater has put together a Halloween-themed variety show for Ann Arbor families. Starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the childrenโs theater will host its free Halloween Variety Hour through Facebook Live. After the live performance, the show can be watched on the Wild Swan Facebook page. Although the doors to its theater closed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Wild Swan entertained audiences in July with a virtual series of 30-minute variety shows.
