Macomb County driver killed in I-75 crash -- here’s what we know so far

DETROIT – A Macomb County man was killed early Thursday morning in a crash on I-75.

Police said the crash happened around 5:45 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024, in the southbound lanes of I-75, south of 8 Mile Road, in Detroit.

A 26-year-old man from Chesterfield Township was driving a Chevrolet Cruze in the left lane of the freeway. Officials said he lost control due to speed and crashed into the bridge support.

The Cruze came to rest in the left lane, where it was struck by a Dodge Avenger, police said.

Officials pronounced the Chesterfield Township man dead at the scene.

The driver of the Avenger had minor injuries.

The freeway was shut down while Michigan State Police troopers investigated the crash.
