SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A small section of 12 Mile Road in Southfield will be closed over the weekend.

12 Mile Road between Lockdale and Duffy streets will close on Saturday, Oct. 19, and is expected to reopen on Monday, Oct. 21. Officials said access to homes and businesses along that section of 12 Mile Road will be maintained east and west of the closure.

The closure is so DTE Energy crews can complete underground electrical work. Crews will be repairing an underground electrical conduit that caught fire earlier this year. Lane closures will remain in place until December so crews can continue working on rebuilding the electrical conduit.

The detour for through-traffic is Telegraph Road to 13 Mile Road to Inkster Road and back to 12 Mile Road.

Officials said that section of 12 Mile Road carries around 23,500 vehicles daily.
