Taylor man extensively injured after rear-ending semi truck on I-275

Man had to be extricated from vehicle

VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Taylor man was extensively injured after rear-ending a semi truck on I-275 in Van Buren Township, according to Michigan State Police.

Police said the crash involved a Mercedes Sprinter Van and a semi truck. It happened at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, on I-275 at Tyler Road in Van Buren Township.

A 34-year-old from Taylor rear-ended the semi truck while the semi truck driver was slowing down for traffic. The Taylor man was extensively injured when he struck the windshield. He was extricated from the van by the fire department and transported to an area hospital.

Police said the Taylor man did not attempt to brake or slow down before crashing into the semi truck.
