More measurable snow on tap for Metro Detroit: What to expect

Messy Friday ahead for most of SE Michigan

Southeast Michigan expected to get 2 to 6 inches of snow Saturday.

4Warn Weather – Here’s your weather forecast for Friday and beyond in Southeast Michigan:

More snow Friday

The next system impacts states mainly to our south Friday with more snow, but we get clipped by it.

  • Arrival is from the west overnight after midnight, and should for the most part exit by noon.
  • After this initial batch, we get a flow off the Saginaw Bay/Lake Huron that will give us lake effect snow showers. These will not be widespread, but those that find themselves under some of these streamers will see reduced visibility and a quick accumulation.
  • Most of us see 1″-3″, with higher totals closer to the Ohio state line. However, those that find themselves under some of those lake effect streamers could see another inch or two.

Still bitterly cold this weekend

  • The cold hangs on for a little longer before milder numbers move in next week.
  • We wake up in the single digits both Saturday and Sunday, with wind chills between 15 and 20 below Saturday, and below zero chills Sunday.

Warmer with rain snow/snow chances next week

  • We see a push of warmer air next week, and that gets us into the 30s starting Monday. We may even touch 40 by Wednesday.
  • With the push of warm air, we see snow chances transition to rain chances.
  • A wintry mix looks possible late Monday and Tuesday, with rain possible Wednesday and Thursday.
