4Warn Weather – The skies were a treat over Metro Detroit on Monday afternoon—the mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions allowed for great viewing of the solar eclipse.
As afternoon temperatures peaked around 70 degrees in Metro Detroit, temperatures briefly dropped about 4 degrees at the National Weather Service’s office in White Lake Township during the eclipse, according to the agency.
Under mostly clear to partly cloudy skies on Monday night, mild overnight lows will only fall to the mid-40s.
Tuesday
Showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday afternoon and evening as a cold front sweeps across Southeast Michigan. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy. Highs will be in the lower 70s.
Southerly winds will be 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. At night, it will be mostly cloudy. Lows will be in the mid-40s. Winds will be out of the south at 5 to 15 mph.
Wednesday
Behind the cold front, the cooler air mass will keep Wednesday’s peak temperatures around 60 degrees. It will be partly mostly cloudy to mostly cloudy, with the chance of a couple of spotty showers late at night, mainly after midnight. Lows will be in the mid to upper 40s.
Thursday and Friday
The rain will return for Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s. There will be a chance of rain showers on Friday, with highs near normal in the mid-50s. Lows will be in the lower to mid-40s on both days.
Weekend forecast
Saturday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy as temperatures bounce back into the lower 60s. Sunday will have mostly cloudy skies with the chance of isolated showers. Sunday’s highs will be in the mid to upper 60s.
Through next Sunday, the normal highs in Metro Detroit are 56 to 58 degrees. The normal lows are 37 to 39 degrees.
