4WARN WEATHER – The pleasant weather from this weekend will continue into the start of the workweek, but it’s about to be interrupted.
Weekend ends with near-record warmth
Sunday afternoon’s temperature rose to 80 degrees at Detroit Metro Airport for the first time since Oct. 4, 2023. The high was just shy of the weather station’s record high of 82 degrees for April 14, which was set last year.
Following the summerlike day, lows will fall to the mid to upper 40s. Skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy as a high-pressure system drifts over the Great Lakes. Northwesterly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.
Monday
The warmth and sunshine will continue into Monday, but temperatures will be lower. Highs will be in the upper 60s to 70 degrees. Winds will be out of the west-northwest at 5 to 15 mph. The skies will remain mostly clear at night as temperatures settle in the mid 40s.
Tuesday
Tuesday, it will be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 60s. Rain showers will move into the area at night, but it will hold off until after midnight in most locations. Unseasonably mild lows will be near 50 degrees.
Wednesday
The chance of rain will jump. Expect a wet and windy Wednesday. The rain will be possible from morning through night, including the possibility of a few thunderstorms. Temperatures will peak in the mid 60s. Lows will be around 50 degrees.
Thursday
Thursday, it will be mostly cloudy with the chance of an isolated shower. Highs will be in the lower to mid 60s. Lows will be in the mid 40s.
Friday to Sunday
Skies will range from partly cloudy to mostly cloudy from Friday to Sunday as cooler air settles in. Temperatures will reach the lower 60s on Friday and the lower to mid 50s on Saturday and Sunday.
What’s normal?
In mid-April, the normal highs are around 60 degrees in Metro Detroit. The normal lows are around 40 degrees.
