DETROIT – Make sure your outdoor Halloween decorations are secure! Breezy conditions will develop today through Thursday with peak gusts 30-40 mph. We are expecting record warmth today and Wednesday as temperatures soar close to 80 degrees.
Showers and a rumble of thunder or two move out by sunrise. Record warmth moves in this afternoon with temperatures rising into the upper 70s. The current record high stands at 77 degrees in 1999. Wind picks up out of the southwest with gusts in the 30 mph range today.
Sunset is at 6:30 p.m.
We turn mostly sunny to partly cloudy on Wednesday with gusts near 40 mph. We will be flirting with breaking the record high of 76 set back in 1999. We will likely reach the low 70s on Halloween with winds around 45 mph as a cold front moves through the region bringing showers to our area Thursday afternoon. Latest data suggests the window for rain is mainly 2 to 7 p.m., so the second half of trick-or-treating should be dry. This will be followed by temperatures closer to average on Friday in the 50s.
This will be the last week of the year with sunsets after 6 p.m.! Don’t forget to set your clocks back on Saturday night before you go to bed as Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday at 2 a.m.
