Wind advisory to go into effect for part of SE Michigan

Thursday’s warmth will not break a record, but it will be an unusually warm Halloween.

Thursday will be a few degrees cooler with afternoon highs in the lower 70s, but rain and wind could be an inconvenience.

The showers, including an isolated thunderstorm, will arrive from the west. The best window for showers will be from noon until 5 p.m., but a couple of showers could pop up as early as 11 a.m. and last as late as 6 p.m. (WDIV)

The showers, including an isolated thunderstorm, will arrive from the west. The best window for showers will be from noon until 5 p.m., but a couple of showers could last as late as 6 p.m. That means that children and families could encounter a few raindrops at the start of trick or treating, but showers will diminish.

Wind Advisory

Winds out of the south and southwest will be 15 to 25 mph with gusts as high 45 mph in Southeast Michigan.

A wind advisory will be in effect for Sanilac County until 2 a.m. Friday. The National Weather Service has expanded the wind advisory to include Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee, and Monroe counties until 10 p.m.

The gusty winds could make driving in high-profile vehicles difficult. Unsecured Halloween decorations may topple or blow around. A few branches may come down.

A gale warning will be in effect for Lake Huron into Friday morning. A small craft advisory will be in effect for Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie until 10 a.m. Friday.

A wind advisory will be in effect for all of Southeast Michigan until tonight. (WDIV)

Last Halloween (2023), Metro Detroit had measurable snow with 0.2 inches at Metro Airport. The average high for Halloween is 56 degrees, and the average low is 39 degrees.

Friday and Saturday

Conditions will be cooler and drier for Friday and Saturday.

Expect highs in the lower to mid 50s, under partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies, on Friday. Friday night, it will be mostly clear with lows in the lower to mid 30s.

Sunday
