Milder Monday with showers in Metro Detroit, winterlike by holiday weekend

Highs around 50 degrees Monday, highs near freezing next weekend

Warmer air will begin to push into Metro Detroit late Sunday night and Monday morning. It will come with widely scattered rain showers after midnight.

The lows will be around 40 degrees, but temperatures will gradually warm overnight and reach the mid 40s by Monday morning’s rush hour.

Monday

Plan for spotty rain showers through Monday in Southeast Michigan. Highs will be around 50 degrees, which will make it the warmest day of the week. Southerly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.

Monday night will be cloudy with a chance of rain showers. Lows will be in the mid 30s.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Holiday travel will increase on Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will be around 40 degrees with mostly cloudy skies in Southeast Michigan. A couple of sprinkles or flurries cannot be ruled out due to lake-effect showers.

Thanksgiving

Thursday, or Thanksgiving, will be mostly cloudy and cool. While most of Southeast Michigan will remain dry, a few rain and snow showers will be possible. The better chance of active weather will be south of the state line.

Bundle up for America’s Thanksgiving Parade. Morning temperatures will be in the lower 30s. By the afternoon, temperatures will only rise into the upper 30s to 40 degrees. Nighttime temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to 30 degrees.

Friday

Black Friday shoppers will have to brace for cold air and snow showers. Highs will be in the mid30s. Lows will be in the mid 20s.

Saturday

As shopping continues on Small Business Saturday, bring out the heavy, winter coat. Bundle up and prepare for it to be cold and mostly cloudy. Temperatures will peak near freezing in the lower 30s. Lows will plummet to the lower to mid 20s. The average high for Nov. 30 is 42 degrees, and the average low is 30 degrees.

Sunday

Sunday, Dec. 1 will mark the start of meteorological winter, which is defined as December, January, and February. [Astronomical winter begins on Dec. 21.] It will feel winterlike.

The cold will continue into Sunday. With cloudy skies and a chance of snow showers, highs will be in the lower 30s.

Holiday Travel Weather

Nationally, rain and snow will impact parts of the West Coast on Monday and Tuesday. In the Eastern U.S., a system will move across the Ohio and Tennessee valleys with rain on Wednesday and Thursday. The Snowbelt of the Great Lakes and parts of the Northeast could receive accumulating snow through the holiday weekend.
