4Warn Weather – Are you ready for a taste of January weather? This holiday weekend will be cold in Metro Detroit.
Thursday night, lake-effect snow showers will make their way to Southeast Michigan as temperatures tumble to the mid to upper 20s. Westerly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.
Friday
Black Friday shoppers will want to bundle up or buy a coat. Snow showers will be numerous in some areas throughout the day, while other parts of Southeast Michigan will see little snow. The more persistent and heavier snow bands will be south of M-59.
Better chances of snow accumulation will be to the west near US-23 and the Ann Arbor area, where up to an inch of snow will be possible through evening. A dusting or less can be expected north of M-59.
Afternoon highs will be in the lower 30s, but breezy conditions will keep wind chill values in the teens for most of the day. Westerly winds will be 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
Friday night will be mostly cloudy with a few flurries. Lows will be in the lower 20s.
Small Business Saturday and Sunday
Saturday and Sunday will be cold with highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Flurries will be possible both days. Expect lows in the lower 20s. These temperatures are typical of January.
Workweek
The cold weather will continue into the first week of December.
Highs will be in the lower to mid 30s for the workweek, which is around 10 degrees cooler than normal. Skies will be mostly cloudy with daily chances of flurries.
