DETROIT – Metro Detroit is in for a wild weather ride this week, from rain to snow to frigid temperatures.
Monday: Rain, high temperatures, then cold front
Metro Detroiters needed an umbrella as they left Monday morning, as a warm front pushed through and brough widespread rain to the area.
Warmer air will stick around Monday, with highs around 50 degrees. But those temperatures will be paired with rain through the first half of the day.
A cold front will sweep the rain east by lunchtime and bring drier, cooler air into Southeast Michigan.
Tuesday-Wednesday: Snowfall
Lake-effect snow showers are likely Tuesday night through Wednesday night. They could even linger into the early parts of Thursday.
Highs will fall into the 30s by Wednesday.
It appears snow totals will range from a coating to 2 inches, with higher amounts north of I-69. The 4Warn Weather team will fine-tune these totals as we get closer.
Thursday-Friday: Frigid temperatures
Temperatures will be much, much colder by Thursday.
Daytime temperatures will struggle to reach the 20s, and they will drop into the single digits Thursday night.
Wind chill temperatures will be near 0 degrees heading into Friday morning.
