Metro Detroit’s warming trend comes with rain

Showers move into Southeast Michigan late Saturday night, early Sunday

It will be mostly cloudy with rain showers arriving after 1 a.m. early Sunday morning from the southwest. There is a chance of isolated wintry mix near the start of the shower activity in some parts of Southeast Michigan. (WDIV)

Despite a very cold start to Saturday, temperatures will warm nicely and back to average.

Saturday’s skies will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy. After starting off in the teens with wind chills in the single digits in the morning, afternoon temperatures will rise into the mid 30s. Winds will be out of the east at 6 to 12 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Temperatures will be in the lower 30s as fans walk to Little Caesars Arena for the Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings game at 7 p.m.

Saturday evening, temperatures will fall to around 30 degrees and slowly rise a couple of degrees overnight. It will be mostly cloudy with rain showers arriving after 1 a.m. from the southwest. There is a chance of isolated wintry mix near the start of the shower activity. Spotty freezing rain will be possible in the Irish Hills and north of I-69. Otherwise, expect a rain event in Southeast Michigan.

The best chance of rain will be in the morning on Sunday. Those chances will dwindle in the afternoon, and rain showers are expected to exit the region in the evening. Lions tailgaters should be prepared with rain jackets or ponchos. Highs will be around 40 degrees. Lows will be in the mid 30s.

Plan for more rain on Monday and warmer temperatures. Highs will be around 50 degrees.

Cooler air will start to push into Southeast Michigan on Tuesday. Under cloudy to partly cloudy skies, temperatures will peak in the lower to mid 40s. Lows will be around 30 degrees.

The wet weather could return on Wednesday for some communities. There will be a chance of scattered rain and snow showers. Seasonable highs will be in the upper 30s, and lows will fall to the mid 20s.

Highs will be in the lower to mid 30s on Thursday and Friday. Skies will be mostly cloudy both days, but Friday will have the chance of a few snow showers.
