Snow, rain returning to Metro Detroit this week -- what to know

Rain, snow mix likely Wednesday with accumulating snow later this week

DETROIT – Cloudy and cooler, but dry today. Waking up to breezy conditions and mild morning temperatures. However, we just don’t warmup much today making for a seasonal Tuesday.

Breezy conditions are expected this morning with wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph possible. Highs today will be around 40, but feeling like 30s with the wind chill and winds will taper off tonight.

Sunset is at 5:03 p.m.

Snow, rain returning Wednesday

Snow moves in Wednesday morning with rain mixing in. Minor accumulations will be possible in the Thumb.

Later this week, snow will be likely late Thursday into Friday morning. Early data suggests anywhere from a half to two inches of accumulation. We will fine tune this forecast the closer we get.

Temperatures tumble this weekend with highs in the 20s with single digit wind chills likely.

White Christmas?

We will start a warming trend heading into Christmas. We will have to see if the Friday snow sticks around with highs possibly reaching the mid to upper 30s on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
