Snow gives way to cold weather this weekend, with temps plunging into teens in Metro Detroit

Saturday, Sunday highs in upper 20s

Saturday looks to be an alright-looking day, but it will be cold. Highs will struggle to get into the lower 20s in the afternoon. (Copyright 2024 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit - All rights reserved.)

4Warn Weather – After most of us saw a decent amount of snow Thursday night and through much of the day Friday, we’re turning off the snow machine and turning on the cold machine.

Overnight we’re looking to dry out, with the exception beings areas closer to Lake Huron, where the chance for more lake effect snow bands continues overnight. Temperatures overnight drop into the middle to upper teens.

Saturday

Saturday looks to be an alright-looking day, but it will be cold. Highs will struggle to get into the lower 20s in the afternoon.

Most of us see some more sunshine, but areas closer to Lake Huron could see a few more lake-effect snow showers.

Sunday

Sunday is also a cold day with highs in the middle 20s.

Early next week, another system swings through and brings us the chance for a few more snow showers.

The difference though with this system is the fact that temperatures will be a notch warmer, and with that a few cold raindrops will try to mix in as well.

This happens later in the day, especially on Monday evening.

The thinking is that most of what falls will be light snow, but areas, especially further south, could see a few cold raindrops mixed in.

A light accumulation will be possible with this snow, but we’re not expecting much to add up.

As we approach Christmas, temperatures warm a little above freezing, so some melting will likely take place, but we’re cautiously optimistic that there will be at least some snow on the ground on Christmas morning.

Later next week as temperatures warm we see another shot for rain return, this one coming on Friday of next week.
