Rain sticks around Metro Detroit this weekend; Colder changes ring in New Year

Rain could be heavy at times

Widespread rain is forecast across the region for the end of the weekend on Sunday (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – Rain showers move back into the region Friday afternoon into Friday evening, and it looks like these rain shower so stick around looking ahead into the entire weekend.

Umbrellas will be needed both Saturday and Sunday, the rain showers we are looking for as we work throughout the day on Saturday will be scattered, so there will be some breaks in the rain. High temperature is running at least 20° above average or better, high temperatures heading for the middle 50s by Saturday afternoon.

Our next round of rain moves in for the end of the weekend on Sunday, so rain is likely for everybody for majority of the day. High temperatures cooling down a little, into the upper 40s by Sunday afternoon.

Dry weather returns to the forecast for the start of next week on Monday, mostly cloudy skies can be expected. High temperatures remaining in the middle 40s by Monday afternoon.

Our next system moves into the region Tuesday, and this looks to be rain showers transitioning over to snow showers as cooler air works into the region. High temperature is heading for the lower 40s by Tuesday afternoon.

Once that low pressure system moves off to the east, we will get a northwesterly flow kicking into the region to start the new year. This will bring colder air into the region, and chances for snow showers Wednesday through the end of the week on Friday. High temperatures into the 30s on Wednesday and Thursday, will drop into the upper 20s by the end of the week on Friday.
