Much needed sunshine, cold for the Detroit Lions game at Ford Field

Snow chances return to the forecast looking ahead into next week

Snow showers return to the forecast for the start of next week (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – After a cloudy start to the weekend with breezy winds and cold temperatures, we are bringing some much needed sunshine into the forecast to end the weekend before more snow moves into the region.

The snow showers and flurries will wind down for the end of the weekend as we watch an area of low pressure move through the Ohio Valley into the Mid-Atlantic region. This will bring a major winter storm to those parts of the country, and Southeastern Michigan will just miss this storm by a matter of miles.

Areas from the Ohio Valley into the Mid-Atlantic region will see upwards of 6 to possibly 12 inches of snow, once you go south from Kentucky into the Tennessee Valley, you start getting into the chance of a crippling ice storm with upwards of a quarter inch of ice possible in some areas.

We will keep some sunshine into the forecast for the end of the weekend for Southeastern Michigan. Cold temperatures will also be sticking around, high temperatures heading into the upper 20s by Sunday afternoon. Expect the clouds to increase in the afternoon and evening hours, but we will remain dry.

Looking ahead into the start of next week on Monday, we will bring back the chance of some snow showers into the forecast. Temperature is not moving a whole lot once again, only heading into the upper 20s by Monday afternoon.

We keep the chance of some snow into the forecast, looking ahead into the middle of next week on Wednesday, with another disturbance sinking to the south and east out of Canada. High temperatures into the mid 20s by the time we get to the middle of next week, and we will keep the cloud cover into the forecast for Thursday before another chance of snow works into the region by the end of the week on Friday. High temperatures remaining below average in the middle 20s by Friday afternoon.

As of right now, as an area of low pressure moves East of the region, we would keep the chance of snow in the forecast for the start of next weekend. High temperatures heading into the upper 20s by Saturday afternoon.
