When to expect more snow showers as dangerously cold temperatures continue Tuesday for Metro Detroit

Wind chill values will remain well below zero through the middle of the week

COLD WEATHER ADVISORY: Remains in effect for all of Southeastern Michigan through 12:00 PM Wednesday. Wind chill values will drop to between -15° to -25° over the next few days. While during the day on Monday and Tuesday, we could see wind chill values around -10°, this type of dangerously cold temperatures could result in frostbite in less than 30 minutes to exposed skin.

TUESDAY (4WARN WEATHER ALERT): Partly to mostly cloudy skies, a chance of snow showers. Continued dangerously cold. High: 7. Wind chill values around -10°.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy skies. Dangerously cold. Low: -4. Wind chill values of -20 to -25°.

WEDNESDAY (4WARN WEATHER ALERT): Mostly cloudy skies. A chance of snow showers. Continued cold. High: 15. Wind chill values rising to -5° to -10°.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies, a chance of snow showers early. Low: 11.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy skies, a chance of snow showers. High: 25.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies. Continued cold. Low: 9.

After some snow showers to start the week, we will keep the chance of a few snow showers into the forecast looking ahead into Tuesday, with the dangerously cold temperatures continuing for a few more days.

Our 4Warn Weather Alert continues through Wednesday due to where the forecast temperatures and wind chills will go. High pressure will build into the region out of the midwestern United States into the Eastern Seaboard by Wednesday. With that, we will get some much colder air moving into the region, so we will keep a clouds, a little sunshine and also the chance of some snow showers into the forecast thanks to the lake effect snow fetch continuing, so don’t be surprised to see a few flakes fly throughout the day on Tuesday.

As of right now, here is where we are expecting temperatures and wind chills to go over the next few days:

Tuesday High Temperatures: 4° to 8°

Tuesday Night/Wednesday Morning Wind Chills: -20° to -25°

Wednesday High Temperatures: 10° to 16°

Wednesday Wind Chills: -5° to -15°

Once we get into the second half of the week, it looks like a weak disturbance moves into the region by the time we get to Thursday, so we will keep the chance of some snow showers into the forecast, before the dry weather sticks around into the end of the week and start of next weekend. It does look like we will have enough moisture to keep some cloud cover around, so expect mostly cloudy skies both Friday and Saturday.

Temperatures will be on a warming trend by the time we get to the second half of next week, and we will climb out of the freezer pretty quick as well. High temperatures will warm into the 20s for Thursday and Friday with overnight lows into the teens. Then, it looks like we will climb into the lower 30s, right around the freezing mark by the time we get to the first part of next weekend on Saturday.

We will keep the cloud cover into the forecast looking ahead into the end of the weekend on Sunday. Mostly cloudy skies can be expected, high temperatures warming back into the lower 30s by Sunday afternoon.

We bring back a chance of snow looking ahead into the start of next week on Monday. Snow showers are possible, especially in the afternoon and evening. High temperatures dropping back into the upper 20s into the afternoon.
