Cooldown to take place this weekend before warming trend occurs in Metro Detroit

Friday highs in lower 20s; Saturday highs in lower 30s

4Warn Weather – The temperatures improved on Thursday, but the snow has caused drivers headaches. Colder weather will briefly return before a warmup.

About one to three inches of snow fell in Southeast Michigan from Wednesday night to Thursday afternoon. The snow showers will taper off in the evening, but some roads will still be slick.

Thursday night will be mostly cloudy and cold. Temperatures will return to the single digits in most of Metro Detroit, with lows from five to 10 degrees. Winds from the west-northwest at five to 10 mph will bring wind chills around zero.

Friday

Friday will be mostly cloudy and several degrees colder. Wind chills will be subzero in the morning before reaching the single digits to lower teens in the afternoon. Expect highs around 20 degrees. Winds will be out of the west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Weekend forecast

This weekend will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures peaking around 30 degrees. Lows will be in the upper teens and lower 20s. A few flurries will be possible on Saturday, and there will be a bit more sunshine on Sunday.

Next week

Metro Detroit’s temperatures will return to normal by Monday afternoon. Under partly cloudy skies and breezy conditions, Monday’s high will be in the lower 30s, and lows will be in the mid-20s.

Tuesday

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy, with a chance of snow showers. Highs will be in the lower to mid-30s, and lows will be in the upper teens to 20 degrees.

Wednesday

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with comparable temperatures. Then, a cold front will cool temperatures off for Thursday.
