Overnight snowfall is making for a tricky morning commute in Metro Detroit, and because of the temperatures, salt might not work well on the roads.
The good news is that we are waking up to temperatures 20 degrees warmer than Wednesday. The bad news is that overnight and early morning snowfall, up to an inch or two, is slowing down traffic.
Untreated roads will be snow covered, and as temperatures are in the teens, salt might not be quite as effective. Give yourself extra drive time as snow will persist this morning.
Highs Thursday will be in the mid-20s, but feeling like 10 degrees in the afternoon. Renewed lake-effect snow showers will be possible in the afternoon and evening.
Friday
A cold front brings a brief return of arctic air, with highs Friday around 20 degrees. Wind chills will drop back to near zero or below Friday and Saturday morning.
Weekend forecast
A gradual warming trend begins over the weekend. Highs will be on either side of 30.
