DETROIT – We are a little more than halfway through NOAA’s winter outlook and, truth be told, the weather has been nearly opposite of what was projected.
So you might want to take this with a grain of salt, but the latest seasonal outlook for February, March and April that takes us through the end of winter and leads us into Meteorological Spring (which is March, April, May) has most of Southeast Michigan with near average temperatures and above-average precipitation.
So, what does that mean?
Well, if this verifies, our average monthly high temperatures go from about 35 degrees in February to nearly 59 degrees in April. However, average monthly lows range from about 21 degrees in February to 39 degrees in April.
Since normal temperatures dip below the freezing mark but also rise above it during this three-month period, it’s next to impossible to determine if that above average precipitation forecasted will result in more snow or rain.
