What to know about weekend snow in Metro Detroit

Snow will still have an impact on travel

Snow is forecast to move into the region Saturday Afternoon and Evening, while not major, some accumulation remains possible (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – It’s been a beautiful day with lots of sunshine, but cold temperatures persist. Despite the dry weather, we’re focusing on winter weather moving in for the weekend.

Clouds and Snow on the Horizon

Expect increasing clouds overnight into Saturday morning, with most areas staying dry. Overnight lows will drop into the lower 20s. Snow is expected Saturday afternoon and evening due to a low-pressure area moving south and north of the region.

Forecast Changes and Snow Totals

Recent forecast changes have reduced expected snow totals, with most moisture north and south of Metro Detroit. The 4Warn Weather Alert for Saturday has been rescinded. Some snow accumulation is expected Saturday afternoon and evening, but not much. Highs will remain below 20°F.

Weekend Weather and Early Next Week

Clouds will persist with a chance of snow showers due to a northwesterly flow by Sunday. Expect sunshine early next week on Monday. Another snow round is expected by Tuesday as a low-pressure system moves east, clipping Metro Detroit with snow showers.

Midweek Snow Chances

A few snowflakes are possible midweek on Wednesday, with signals of a stronger system moving in late Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing more snow chances. Highs will warm into the early 30s next week, then drop into the 20s by Valentine’s Day on Friday.
