We’re tracking a major snow system moving into SE Michigan next week: What to know

Multiple snow systems are in the forecast

A significant snowmaker looks to be possible late Wednesday and into Thursday across the region (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – Mostly cloudy skies will dominate the end of the weekend on Sunday. Expect some clearing late in the afternoon into the evening. High temperatures will reach the lower 30s but will stay below freezing throughout the day.

Monday: Sunshine Returns Before Clouds Increase

High pressure will build into the region on Monday, bringing plenty of sunshine in the morning. However, clouds will increase by the afternoon and into the evening. Highs will climb back into the low 30s by the afternoon.

Tuesday: Snow Showers Possible

An area of low pressure will move south and east of the region, traveling up the eastern seaboard by Tuesday. This will bring enough moisture for a few snow showers throughout the day. Highs will be in the upper 20s by the afternoon.

Wednesday-Thursday: Significant Snowstorm Expected

A significant weather system is set to impact the region from late Wednesday through Thursday. With cold temperatures in place, this system is expected to bring an all-snow event, potentially resulting in several inches of accumulation. A second low-pressure system will develop over the Tennessee Valley, moving north and east through the Appalachian region.

This, combined with a frontal boundary, will provide ample moisture for snow development. Preparations should begin for a significant snowmaker. Highs will be in the mid-20s on Wednesday and only reach the upper 20s by Thursday.

Friday-Saturday: Dry Start, Snow Returns

Dry weather is expected on Friday with mostly cloudy skies. Another round of snow may arrive late Friday into the first half of the weekend on Saturday. High temperatures will be in the mid-20s on Friday, warming to the upper 20s to around 30° by Saturday.

  • Sunday: Mostly cloudy skies, decreasing clouds in the afternoon and evening. High: 31.
  • Sunday night: Partly cloudy skies becoming mainly clear overnight. Continued cold. Low: 15.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny skies. High: 32.
  • Monday night: Partly cloudy skies. Low: 19.
  • Tuesday: Mostly cloudy skies, a chance of snow showers. High: 29.
